I have an Yamaha DTX900 module that I like very much, but when I heard the sounds from the AD5 module from the ATV Sound Store, I was totally sold! It is the closest to an accoustic drum sound in the market, and is so easy do use!
It doesn´t come with lots of editings, but is exactly what I was looking for. In my DTX900 I have tons of parameters and effects that are good, but I needed one module to just sit down, choose the kit and play. The AD5 is just that, you have the instruments that you assemble in kits, set the level of each instrument, save the kit, and you are done! Next session you just select the kit and play. And if you need to change some instrument in the kit, you can clone it, and change the instrument in a second. Very easy to operate.
The settings for the trigger pads are very easy and intuitive. I was able to fine tune my DTX pads in less than 10 minutes and got very good results, including the RHH135 hihat, that worked just fine. The AD5 have preset settings for most pads manufactures from the big guys, and if you don´t find yours, there are plenty of settings to dial in your pad.
The only thing that I miss a bit is that all toms are single zone by design. The DTX900 has 3 zones for each pad, so I was used to put a cowbell or agogo in each upper rims zone of the toms.
I comes with an 8GB SD card so you can backup your settings and download instruments from the ATV Sound Store and upload in the module.
