Amazing machine!!!

I've only had this for a few days but am very impressed so far! I know it's only gonna get better every day, I'm really looking forward to living with it. I've been a Roland edrum user and proponent since the 80's from the Simmons SD-9 up to present and pretty much every Roland edrum product available. I've designed and built ekits and use these both live and in the studio for years. Love it!!

Day 2 review on the Digital Upgrade pack

My gigging set is a Mimic with Boom Theory Spacemuffins drums and ATV/EF-Note cymbals. It works very well for my "pop-rock music of the past 50 years" gig. That said, I'm an acoustic drummer at heart. Electronics are, for me, a means to an end: quiet practice, reasonable stage volume, and the ability to replicate a wide variety of sounds to fit anything we might play.

I just spent some time with the V71 and digital pads. This is the next-level realism I'm looking for. So far, ease of use is a big win, too. I was reading the manual and downloading all the firmware updates for the digital pads, not looking forward to the process. However, the module handled all that for me. I basically had to press the enter button a few times, while the module handled the rest. Super easy. Once done, playing was a dream, no configuration needed on digital HH, Ride, or SD. Straight out of the box, I felt an incredible level of nuance on all three. Given these are the heart of the kit, I really can't ask for more... except I think HH bell should be achievable, given the level of technology on display so far. Roland, please do it!

Overall though, I'm having so much fun playing this kit, which is what I'm after at this point. I've never been a fan of the "Roland Sound" and maybe I'll change my mind later, but I'm really loving what I'm hearing through the headphones, and am quite comfortable that - if necessary - I'll be able expand the sounds via Soundworks or SD 3. I can't see bringing this kit out to our gigs; more likely this is going to be my stay at home and have fun kit, and I'm thankful to have it. If it's in the budget, even marginally, I highly recommend having this on your list.

V71 First impressions as well

Stock Tom sounds are incredible. Expansions are excellent. I am sure more cymbals will come with future expansions. V71 kit editor is great for desktop editing. The copy pad int is great for adding a Tom quickly then tuning.

Roland V71 module

I received and used my V71 module with my band. The module has a lot of new sounds taken from the DW Soundworks software. I like the color screen and the ease of using my laptop to make adjustments to the module. The V71 module is larger than my TD-50X module! The module works very well with my DWe Wireless drums and the DW Soundworks software. Well worth the money spent for this module!!!
