Zildjian Alchem-E Gold Electronic Drum Kit

The Alchem e Gold kit checked all the boxes for me. I wanted the larger acoustic style drums and full size cymbals using traditional drum hardware and stands provides the acoustic drumming experience that I am used to. But, I still wanted to keep a fairly small footprint in my compact space. You can save a lot of space with compact pad style mesh kits and get more drums, but it's just not the same playing experience. This kit is a good middle ground. It is basically a compact acoustic kit with low volume cymbals and low volume heads. Bonus, it's got electronic triggers, a great sound library, and makes it easy to record via usb out to GarageBand. The metal cymbals do require some calibrating to your playing style, which takes some time, but is much easier to do than on my old Roland drums. Plus, they just feel and sound so much better than hitting a rubber frisbee. I forgot how much I missed playing real drums. The drum heads are a thin 2 ply mesh that works fine, but is a little bit too bouncy for my liking, At some point when they eventually need replacing, I'll probably go with a thicker 3 ply. I expect this might make the acoustic hits of the drums louder because of the resonant heads, but a little muffling on the bottom should help keep it quiet. Just personal taste and easy modification there. I hope they continue to work on the module software. The existing sound kits are good, but there isn't that many to choose from. I almost exclusively use the Pop Punk kit. Don't forget if this is your first kit, you will need a throne, bass pedals, high hat stand, and snare stand.
