Gretsch EVO F405 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit

If you’re used to playing an acoustic kit, the Gretsch Catalina EVO F405 gives you a familiar place to sit down and play. You get a 20" kick, 10" and 12" rack toms, a 14" floor tom and a full-size 14" snare. The hi-hat mounts on a traditional stand, and the toms and cymbals can go right where you like them. Plug in your headphones and you can play that same setup with sounds sampled from Gretsch USA Custom, Brooklyn and Broadkaster drums.

When you buy the Catalina EVO F405 from Edrumcenter, we include a 3-year warranty.

How it feels behind the kit

The snare and toms use three-ply True Rebound mesh heads with separate head and rim triggering. The 20" kick uses a dual-sensor trigger that supports a double pedal. Up top, the 14" hi-hat, 16" crash and 18" ride each have three playable zones. You can play the bow, bell or edge from any direction and grab the crash or ride to choke it. The hi-hat has a separate bottom cymbal and controller, so opening and closing it underfoot feels familiar.

What you can do with the Gretsch sounds

The Catalina EVO module gives you 50 factory kits, more than 500 multilayer sounds and room to save 128 user kits. Round-robin sampling adds variation between strokes, which you’ll hear when you play a snare roll or a repeated ride pattern.

There’s plenty to work with if you like dialing in your own sounds. Bring up the snare-bottom mic for more wire sound, blend in the subkick for more low end, or add room ambience when you want the kit to open up. Each pad has its own compression and three-band EQ. You can edit from the module’s 2.7" OLED display or use the Gretsch E-Drum Remote app to adjust sounds and trigger settings.

From headphone practice to a live mix

For practice, stream a track over Bluetooth and plug into either the 1/4" or 1/8" headphone jack. The module includes a metronome and coaching tools, and you can record a stereo WAV straight to a USB flash drive when you want to listen back.

For recording, USB-C carries audio and MIDI, with eight audio outputs to your DAW and four inputs back to the module. For gigs, two main outputs and four direct outputs give your sound engineer the option to mix the kick and snare separately. Bluetooth MIDI is also available.

Hardware included

Gretsch includes its Explorer hardware pack with two boom cymbal stands, a hi-hat stand, a snare stand and a single bass drum pedal. If you already have a double pedal you like, the F405 kick supports that too.
