The Hosa MIT-176 changes the impedance and also the connector going for low impedance to high and from XLR to 1/4". You need this for a low impedance professional mic to work on something that does not have an XLR connector. A good example of how to use it are using it is plugging a Sennheiser E835 using a mic cable into a the Roland GO:Mixer for recording vocals.
